Which do I need to restore this winsxs folder to, or even better how can I get it back to the way it was?I'm really having issues with this security system in Win 7, maybe I just need to get used to it.Any help most appreciated. Thanks, Bruce. I figure now that since I "own" Windows\winsxs, that the installer does not own it and therefore can not install the simconnect folder. How do I restore the folder (and all sub-folders and files) Windows\winsxs to the original state? Is this possible? I think that if I can ever get FSX re-installed that I will forget the GoFlight module unless it works first time around next time.Under Security, and in "Group or user names", all I see is my name ( Bruce-64), whereas all other folders under Windows have several names including TrustedInstaller, CreatorOwner ans Syatem, as well as my user name and my user name suffixed with "Administrator". Then I could delete the file. Now, I have trouble either repairing or (after uninstalling FSX) re-installing, where I get an error (no number to reference it) when trying to install the SimConnect folder. After looking on the web, I found this: used the cmd line to implement the changes to all of Windows/winsxs (there are many folders under this level). Of course, Win 7's permissions prevented me from deleting this folder as I did not own it. I have seen this before in XP, where I have deleted (this is from Pete Dawson's forum) the folder Windows\winsxs\x86_. I'm in a bit of a bind here and wonder if anyone can help.Win 7 (64 Professional) is installed, and I also installed FSX (not any SPs yet), along with my GoFlight module- which installed Ok but would not come "alive" when FSX was started.
